Public speaking is considered to be a daunting task by many, so we include it as a central part of our Supreme Concepts training program. The ability to address an audience with confidence and eloquence provides us with a distinct professional advantage.
When providing our executives with development opportunities in public speaking, we like to start with some basic suggestions to help them overcome any stage fright they may feel. Our first Supreme Concepts recommendation is to make sure we understand our listeners. We consider the language they use, the needs they may currently have (and that our talks might help meet), and any other details that might give us insight into our audiences.
Then, once we feel like we’ve gained some awareness, we consider how best to grab their attention. One of the best methods of getting listeners on our side is through laughter, so we find some relevant jokes to tell. Not only does this endear us to our onlookers, but when we hear our crowds laughing it helps us to relax a bit as well.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we teach our executives to structure their talks like stories. We have distinct beginnings, middles, and ends, plus we always stick to the same premise – consumers benefit from doing business with us.
We won’t let fear of public speaking stop us from achieving our goals. Get more Supreme Concepts public speaking tips on Facebook.
