We’ve all heard the saying that luck is the place where opportunity and preparedness meet, and it’s a bit of wisdom that has a lot of truth to it. What does it mean to be prepared though? In our collective Supreme Concepts, Inc. opinion, being prepared for opportunity involves developing the positive habits that allow us to see and seize a chance to move ahead when it presents itself.
The next logical question is, of course, “What are the behaviors that I need to develop?” These are just a few of our Supreme Concepts, Inc. suggestions for practices that will help you capitalize on good fortune:
• Get Enough Sleep: We’re doing more than resting our bodies while we sleep. This is also the time when our minds process the day’s events, when information is moved from short-term to long-term memory. Studies show that well-rested people are healthier, happier, less accident-prone, and able to incorporate new information quickly.
• Make More Mistakes: This may seem counterintuitive, but the truth is that mistakes aren’t the opposite of success – they’re the keys to it. We make a habit of trying new things and putting ourselves into situations where we know we’ll make mistakes so that we can learn new skills along with resiliency.
• Exercise: Achievement requires energy, and being healthy is the best way we know to ensure that we have the stamina we need to achieve our goals. We try not to get too hung up on a particular type of activity though; the best fitness program is the one that we’ll stick with, whatever that may be.
Prepare for opportunity by adopting these habits.
